Nice little 1 bedroom in a great part of historic Charleston
Nice little 1 bedroom in a great part of historic Charleston. This unit is a good value and working with YOURPAD was very easy. The check-in process is a little odd, you have to call first and then get instructions, but other than that they are very responsive and helpful.
- Upon arrival
- Upon arrival, the unit smelled strongly of mildew (noted in previous reviews) and had visible mold around multiple air vents
- Poor door and window seals are at least partially to blame, though mushy drywall underneath a guestroom window suggests possible water damage
- We ran the A/C nonstop for the first 3 days of our stay in hopes of reducing humidity and improving air quality, but contacted YourPad support when the problem persisted
- YourPad was quick to respond; they were unable to relocate us, but sent a tech within hours
- The tech installed a dehumidifier 2 days later, but despite running non-stop for the next 48 hours, the device was unable to reduce the humidity inside the unit below 64%
- After seeing multiple cockroaches in the unit, we shared photos with the YourPad team and requested an early checkout
- YourPad agreed and offered a partial refund, but we're still waiting on the bulk of that refund 7 biz days later

We had no AC for the first three days, however...
We had no AC for the first three days, however Yourpad was extremely responsive. They sent a technician over on the first day and while they weren’t able to fix it they installed temporary units until it was fixed. Eventually the AC worked fine. The Airbnb is in an excellent location and in walking distance to lots of great restaurants and coffee shops.

Place does need some TLC: windows are dirty with lots of cobwebs (outside), handles/facets loose, some issues with A/C not working, etc
Overall, property is in a central, walkable area and the place has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Could just use a bit of TLC to make it feel more worth the $$$.
