Property worked out well for our family group of 5 adults

Dave Kuhl
Property worked out well for our family group of 5 adults. We liked the split of bed rooms bottom and top floors with common space in between. Beds were comforable. House is nicely updated and clean. Very interesting art work on the walls. Based on comments from previous guests, we were aware of the noise coming from the hospital. Noise was most noticeable during the day when sitting outside. Very little, if any, at night so sleeping was not an issue. Private parking was good and very convenient to the house. Neighborhood was very walkable and seemingly safe. Easy drive to various sites in the city.

John's place is super stylishly furnished and squeaky clean

John's place is super stylishly furnished and squeaky clean! The beds are very comfortable as well. We were surprised that the whole building was ours-- weren't sure from the photos. The living area and kitchen are on the second floor. The ground floor has TWO en suite king bedrooms! The 3rd floor has two bedrooms and a spacious bathroom. As mentioned by other guests, there is a rather loud hvac system for a nearby building. (This didn't harm our sleep at all as it's rather like white noise after a while, but sitting on the deck is pretty loud.) We were planning on eating at the fabulous and fabled restaurants of Charleston so we weren't too concerned about using the outdoor space for meals. We walked to King street several times and home again-- good after the amazing meals. Parking is free and easy. WiFi is strong.

Very nice house with plenty of room for four adults and one toddler

Very nice house with plenty of room for four adults and one toddler. The floors were quite dirty—my daughter’s feet were black from walking barefoot the first night—which I messaged the host about, but they didn’t respond. The kitchen was a bit bare bones in terms of supplies, and no spices, so be prepared for that if you’re cooking. The sound of the generator (or whatever it is) from the hospital is noticeable but I don’t think it impacted anyone’s sleep. About 20 min walk to King street and quick drive to the city’s sights. Overall a good stay, just felt pricey for the lack of a few things.

Lots to like and appreciate: clean, easy to find and accessible location to what we came to Charleston for

Lots to like and appreciate: clean, easy to find and accessible location to what we came to Charleston for. Two bedrooms are located on the entrance floor, both with equal sized bathrooms. Middle floor is the living room and kitchen and porch. Upstairs on the third floor are two more bedrooms that share a very small bathroom. Challenges: faucet upstairs has very little water so just drips … luckily for us the shower had water pressure. The toilet and shower are in a tiny teeny space … with so much room everywhere else it’s rather odd. Then early both mornings like around 6 am loud thumping noises like a neighbor dragging luggage down external stairs woke us up. Then an hour later very loud sounds of animals scratching thumping knocking on the upstairs ceiling woke us up and kept us up … what’s up there in the attic? So loud and a bit scary … sorry don’t think we’ll be back here ….

Unfortunately

Unfortunately, the home is located directly next to a large noisy generator or HVAC unit for the hospital and it was horribly loud at every hour of the day. This was obviously difficult for sleeping. And generally just annoying. We did report it and the staff kindly acknowledged knowing about the noise. But quite frankly it’s not a solvable problem other than not staying there. I would not stay in that home a second time. The home also needs interior painting. It looks worn. The location is good.

This was such a gem of a place

This was such a gem of a place. Lovely updates inside and plenty of space to stretch out and give all guests an area to both gather and retreat as needed. Parking was doable with both our vehicles and we were within walking distance to many places, including King street. We would definitely stay at this location again in the future. Owner was responsive and easy to work with.
